Whats the difference between T300 and T700 carbon fiber?

Japanese TORAY company developed 3 series of carbon fiber, which is MJ series of carbon fiber with high strength and high modulus M series, T series with high strength and high modulus. From the above data, T300 and T700 have the same tensile modulus 230GPa, but big differences in the tensile strength, the T700s model is 38.8% higher than the T300, the tensile strength at break is 0.6% higher, and the T300 carbon filament is slightly thinner than the T700. The T700s are denser than the T300 and heavier than the T300 in the same volume.


The main difference between the performance of carbon fiber T300 and T700 is the content of nitrogen in the fiber, T300 is 6.96%, T700 is 4.24%. the former is higher 2.72%. For the composition, T300 and T700 are both mainly composed of carbon, the mass fraction of the former is 92.5%, T700 is 95.58%. The carbonization temperature, T700 higher than T300.


Through the surface morphology of SEM image, it can be found that the technology of T300 using wet spinning raw silk, and the T700 is dry spinning wet spinning raw silk. From the morphology of the section, carbon fiber T300 and T700 fibers show granular characteristics inside, and the structure of the original fiber bundle is clearly visible.


At present, the production of carbon fiber products in the civilian market is mainly based on T300, and the T300 is a comprehensive consideration for cost performance. Of course, if the product requires high precision and the use environment has certain requirements for product strength, you can choose to use T700 carbon fiber.
